Snack Time

Most children like to enjoy cheerios and cheese crackers in their snack cups, but not our child.

I picked up Jackson's snack cup yesterday and this is what I found in it- Oliver's Kong.

Weekend Visitors

A high school friend came to visit this weekend for Memorial Day.  Before our 10-year reunion a few years ago, we had not seen each other since High School.  We picked up where we left off and have stayed in touch since.  Thanks goodness for Facebook!!!  It was so good to see her and reminisce about old times.

On Friday we enjoyed some yummy Leucadia Pizza where I found my new favorite- Pear Gorgonzola!  YUM.

On Saturday we went to the Wild Animal Park.  It was the first time I have been there and I will definitely be going back.  Jackson fell asleep before we had the chance to go to the petting zoo in the park, so next time we go we are going to do that first.  I know he would have loved it.

On Sunday we went to Pacific Beach to enjoy some breakfast along the beach at Kono and then to La Jolla Cove to watch the seals.

Who's Your Daddy?

Here are some pictures of Jared and I when we were young. We'll let you decide who Jackson looks the most like.

Check out my dad's stash!  And my brother rocking his red tie.

My guess is the only way I would stop crying
is if they gave me keys to play with

Now we know where Jackson gets his tantrums from :)

The Big 30

Has anyone heard the Tim McGraw song "In My Next 30 Years"?   What a great song.  I think it pretty much sums up how most of us feel on our 30th birthdays.  Looking back on my 30 years, I feel like I've had a pretty good run.  Somehow, despite all the crazy things I've done, I ended up with an amazing group of family and friends, and quite possibly the best husband and son ever.

My 30th birthday was downright amazing.  Jared flew my best friends since college, Nici and Raegan, out to surprise me.  I opened the door to go out into the garage and there they were!  It took me about three seconds to realize what was going on and then I spent the next five minutes screaming and crying!

We spent Friday shopping and chatting, and then spent Saturday at Glen Ivy Spa with some friends from my mom's group.  Nothing better than a massage and some sun to soak in your 30th!

Campaign for a New Camera

One of my friends let us borrow her SLR camera for the weekend to take some pictures of Jackson.  He was such a good sport and we got some really great pics of him.

I am now on a campaign to get the Teach's a new SLR camera!

11 months!

Four more weeks and our little boy turns one!!!

Jackson's Morning

We pretty much have our morning routine down to a science.

1) Wake-up and share a bottle with Oliver (not really, but Oliver thinks he should have some)

2.) Remove all toys from the toy bin and play with only 2 of them

3) Do some light stretching while watching Mickey Mouse Club House

4.) Say hello to Daddy when he comes down stairs

5.) Climb up on the couch with mom and snuggle (mom's favorite part of the day)

Pack-n-Play to the Rescue

Every day Jackson becomes more and more mobile, and every day Oliver has less spots to hide from him.

Oliver has found one spot though that Jackson can't get him ... the pack-n-play.  He literally begs to get into the pack-n-play when he has had enough of Jackson.  He goes to the corner, digs into the sheet a bit and relaxes.  I will try to get him out after a few hours and he just wants to stay in.  Poor guy.  But most of the time there are some left over cheerios in the pack-n-play so Oliver at least gets himself a bit of a treat when he's in there.

Pull Ups

Just this past week Jackson has learned to pull himself up onto things.  This has put us into a whole new category of what he can reach.

He can pull himself up on the couch ...

the coffee table ...

the pantry ... and pretty much anything else that he wants

Monkey See, Monkey Do

You know how in The Jungle Book, Mowgli walks around and acts like a wolf because that's who he was raised by?

Well, I guess we have our own version of Mowgli.  Jackson evidently has been raised by Oliver.

I told Jared that if he starts licking his butt we are in trouble.

If I had a nickel ...

If I had a nickel for every cheerio I have picked up in the past month I would be a millionaire.

Jackson helping himself to the cheerios in the pantry

What happens when you give Jackson a cup of cheerios

Jackson's stash- a few of his toys, two of Oliver's toys, cheerios and the remote control

This is what the car seat looks like every time I take Jackson out of it.  I shake Jackson once he's out and a few cheerios always fall out of his pants.
