Big Boy

What a week this has been so far and it's only Wednesday!  I couldn't wait to post because so much excitement has taken place.

So far this week Jackson has crawled, got his first tooth and had his first haircut.  What has happened to my little boy?

We had his 9 month check-up on Wednesday and he is 29 inches long and 20 pounds.  He is in the 75th percentile for height and the 27th percentile for weight.  I asked the doc if I needed to feed him more and she said that he is just a tall, skinny boy and there is nothing to worry about.  The doctor also said that since he was so tall that we could move him to a forward facing car seat.  I know that will make Jackson happy, but I probably will keep him rear facing for a few more months.

First Haircut

It was finally time to get Jackson's hair cut.  It was to the point where I debated putting a clip in his hair to keep it out of his eyes.

A little part of me didn't want to take this step.  I loved his curls and was afraid he would look so grown up with shorter hair.

We took him to Little Locks salon, which caters to children.  Jackson got to sit in his own jeep while he got his hair cut.  He thought he was pretty cool stuff.  He took hold of the wheel and laughed and laughed.

Once the haircut got started, he was a little freaked out and had a few meltdowns, but quickly gained control once we blew some bubbles his way.

Vroom, Vroom

This is so much fun

On goes the cape

Ok guys, this isn't funny.

What's happening?

Oooooh bubbles!

Almost done

What's with the hair dryer, mom?

Duck Duck Goose

Here is a picture of Jackson and the other babies that are in the bible study class I attend.

Jackson doesn't stand out or anything, does he?

Duck, duck, duck, duck, duck ... Hair!

Second Child Syndrome

Do you have an older brother or sister?  Have you ever looked through pictures of you as a child and noticed there are very few with you just by yourself?  It was always you AND your older sibling?

Does this sound familiar?  It's called second child syndrome.  And Jackson has it.

Almost every picture we take of Jackson Oliver feels like he should be a part of it.  Unless I put Jackson on his chair for monthly pictures or we are out and about without Oliver, you will more than likely see a portion or all of Oliver in the picture.

Here is a montage through the months of pictures that were meant to just be Jackson.  And may I add that these are just a small selection of the hundreds that I have with Oliver in them.

What's mine is yours

We have officially hit the stage where Oliver and Jackson's toys are becoming fair game to both of them.  I'm not a fan of this stage.

And to make it worse, Jackson likes to take his toys and tease Oliver with them.

Hey Oliver, do you want this toy?

Ha, ha, just kidding. It's mine.

Ok, ok, ok ... do you want the toy, Oliver?

Bwahahaha ... just kidding again.  It's mine.  Give it back.

He works hard for the money

Jackson decided he wanted to help daddy work hard for his money.

See daddy, all you have to do is push this button to finish your report

And to print your report you hit this button

And if that doesn't work, just bang on it like this

Dazed and Confused

This is how Jackson spends the first hour of his day.  Glued to the tv watching Baby Einstein.  Who knew a few hand puppets and some spinning tops could be so entertaining.

Terror on Wheels

This week was pretty hectic at the Teach household.  Jackson has turned into quite the little terror on wheels.  You would think that I would just not put him in his walker, but I'm not quite prepared to handle the total meltdown that would follow by not putting him in his walker a few hours a day.  Here are just a few of the things I spent the week doing:

1.) Picking up smashed crackers off the floor that were ran over by the walker
2.) Taking the drawers completely out of the stand in our dining room b/c he won't stop puling them out when he's in his walker
3.) Getting my ankles smashed into about 25 times a day b/c Jackson hasn't quite learned how to put on the brakes when he is getting ready to run into something.  It is full throttle at all times.  (On a side note, Jackson was racing towards me so fast today that I actually had no other choice but to spread my legs and have him go through them like some kind of three-ring circus.  He is a mad man!
4.) Un-lodging the front of the walker from under the kitchen cabinets (see #3 to reference how a walker could gets itself lodged under cabinets- full throttle)
5.) Being unsuccessful at going to the bathroom by myself because Jackson has learned how to maneuver around the small hallway that leads to the bathroom with his walker.  Do you know how hard it is to pee when you have an 8 month old and a dog staring at you the whole time?

And then there were other things, like ...
1.) Having to separate Jackson and Oliver (our dog) b/c they can't keep their hands/paws off each other
2.) Being thrilled that Jackson is saying "ma, ma" but not so thrilled that he only says it when he is really mad and screaming.  MaaaaaaMaaaaaaa .... MaaaaaaaaMaaaaaaa ...
3.) Giving Jackson macaroni and cheese for the first time and finding pieces of it for days in his hair.
4.) Rescuing Jackson multiple times because he found himself up on all fours and didn't know how to get down.

Here are a few pictures from our crazy week.

Being on all fours is fun for 2 minutes, then it is scary.

YUM- Mac and Cheese.  Note the fluffy white dog right by the high chair
waiting for Jackson to drop him food.

Oliver bugging Jackson or vice versa.

Even though the week was challenging, I couldn't imagine myself doing anything else but staying at home with Jackson.  Even when he is a terror he is still the cutest guy I know :)

Puppy Love

Aunt Barbara has two golden retrievers and Jackson met them for the first time while Grandma and Great-Grandma were in town.

Something tells me he likes dogs ...

Grandma and Great-Grandma Visit

Grandma Teach and Great-Grandma Davidson came out to visit for a few weeks and boy did Jackson get spoiled!

The trip started off with Jackson getting an entire wardrobe through age 2 of KSU gear. Sweats, shirts, jackets and onsies ... he is set!  Go Cats!  Oliver also got spoiled with lots of dog treats and a play toy.  Grandma knows not to forget about the furry one!

Jackson was able to show off all of the great San Diego attractions to our visitors, like the Midway, Birch Aquarium, Farmer's Markets, and the ocean.  Jackson did his best to learn how to crawl while Grammie and Great-Grammie were in town, but unfortunately (or fortunately for mom) he is still trying.

Mommy and daddy were able to get away for a few evenings to enjoy some food and wine while Grandma and Great-Grandma watched Jackson.

We enjoyed having you out Grandma and Great-Grandma!
